Raising pets can be a messy affair – but that doesn’t have to get in the way of snuggling up with your dog on the couch or in your favorite chair.

Pet Parents®, a US-based company made up of pet parents, recently launched a line of waterproof blankets specifically designed for pet households.

Whether you share your home and heart with a house pup, an incontinent older pet, or a bully stick-loving, drooling adult dog, a waterproof blanket can save your padding – and help you happily cuddle your dog without Having to worry about your furniture.

We tried the new Pet Parents® Pawtect ™ blankets with our two dogs and three cats – and we’ve found many reasons why you should consider a waterproof blanket for your pet home.

Protect furniture from damp dogs

Whether it’s winter mud or summer splash, damp dogs can mean damp pads. Barli loves to splash around in our stream. Since it is literally steps from the house, he can bring a lot of water into his coat.

I love to cover the couch with our Pawtect ™ blanket – it absorbs the moisture, Barli gets a cozy place to relax and I protect the couch upholstery. Result!

When it’s time to wash the blanket, all I have to do is toss it on the normal cycle (warm water) with our regular detergent (no bleach). The blanket is then popped in the dryer and comes out fluffy and warm. Note: skip the fabric softener. They decrease absorption.

Make your dog’s crate cozy

Make your dog’s crate comfortable and cozy by adding a waterproof blanket. The specially designed layers soak up any spills or accidents.

Do you need extra layers? Pet Parents® Pawtect ™ pads offer a lot of protection – and they are also washable!

Protect your car upholstery

Just like your home upholstery, car upholstery needs protection from muddy paws, urine, dander and of course vomiting if your dog is prone to car diseases.

Cover your dog bed

Yes, most dog comforters are washable – but we all know that wrestling the comforter is not the easiest job to wash.

A waterproof blanket can easily be twisted over your dog’s favorite bed and just as easily tossed into the laundry.

Use during house training

I’ll be the first to admit that Barli’s house training took longer than I expected. Barli had spent three of his first five months in an animal shelter – so potty breaks meant going to the corner of his room.

If you’re in house training, keep your routine going with frequent potty breaks. (For every month your pup is old, their bladder will hold for about an hour – so your three-month-old will need to walk every three hours or less.)

But accidents happen. Pet Parents® Pawtect ™ blankets and Pet Parents® Pawtect ™ blanket Plus – with additional layers for absorption under heavy use – have been specially developed with layers to absorb moisture and a waterproof layer to prevent the fabric under the blanket from becoming dirty prevent.

And a special bonus for puppy parents: The LockJaw ™ edges of the blanket protect the blanket from fraying – even with sharp little puppy teeth!

Make incontinent pets comfortable

Incontinence – whether it’s permanent or temporary due to injury or surgery – doesn’t have to mean that you no longer have to share your couch or bed with your dog. You just have to get creative!

Pet Parents® Pawtect ™ Blanket Plus – available exclusively on the Pet Parents website – provides additional absorption. The plus blankets are available in three sizes and are reversible and cuddly soft on both sides. (These go great with Pet Parents® washable dog diapers for when you need extra coverage.)

Travel with your dog

Protect hotel beds, give your dog a cozy place to relax or give your dog a cozy place to lie down when you visit friends with your Pawtect ™ blanket.

The reversible blanket has a chocolate or slate plush fabric on one side and a multi-layer Sherpup® fabric on the back. Sherpup® creates an inner impermeable barrier and ensures the ultimate softness and coziness for your pet no matter where your journey takes you.

The original Pawtect ™ blankets from Pet Parents® are made from our specially developed synthetic fur fabric and our proprietary Sherpup® multilayer material. Sherpup® is not only the most comfortable fabric, it also forms an impermeable barrier between the two outer fabrics so that moisture cannot penetrate through both sides of the blanket. Our Pawtect ™ blankets are perfect for all pets!

Offer the scent of security

Do you remember Linus and his trustworthy blanket? Your Pawtect ™ blanket could become your dog’s safety blanket and provide the calming scent of home wherever you go.

The plush blanket is an excellent place for your dog to settle down as well, whether you are enjoying a meal on the terrace of the restaurant or visiting a friend.

Keep fur away from furniture

We all know that pet fur finds its way into upholstery. For three black cats, one black dog, and one white dog, our upholstery color doesn’t match the fur … so we’re working to keep the furniture fur free!

I throw our blanket on the couch and it’s a magnet for dogs and cats! (Lucky will confirm that!)

Cuddle with your dogs

Yes, the Pawtect ™ blankets are perfect for snuggling up with your dog for a night of binge watching! (I recommend the large size so you and your dog can fully stretch out!)

Our dogs give Pawtect ™ blankets a big paw for cozy softness – and I totally agree for the style, comfort and protection of our furniture!
